The Moon and Early Earth

Virtual, 29-30 November 2021

I attended this meeting for general interest. The early history of the Earth and Moon — particularly their early orbital evolution under the influence of rapid rotation and huge tidal forces (and perhaps even the interaction of their respective dynamos) — is a topic of considerable interest to me.

GreZuMaRob

Zurich, 15-17 November 2021

A gathering of groups from Grenoble, Zürich, Marseilles and Brussels who research the geodynamo and, more generally, rapidly rotating fluids. Being relatively new to the field, this was an excellent opportunity for me to gain an overview of the topics people are interested in.

EGU 2018

Vienna, 8-13 April

Poster presentation — Variational principles for the elastodynamics of rotating planets

I presented work done for my Master’s project along with a few extensions such as the analysis of fluid-solid boundaries. I’m currently (November 2021) writing this up — and linearising the various sets of equations! — for submission to GJI.

I also made some A4 handouts to give out on the day. These give almost the same amount of info but in a slightly more screen-readable format!

UK Exoplanet Community Meeting 2018

Oxford, 21-23 March

David and I attended this meeting in order to learn more about a field in which we have a potential academic interest but little knowledge. Having attended the meeting we now have slightly more knowledge!
